"Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I remember my Mom and Aunt doing decoupage, and my Dad was always oil painting, drawing, or building models. Someone was always creating something at our house." "I took tole painting lessons in 1987 and from then on I was hooked on painting. My philosophy today is, if it doesn't move, paint it!" "As a child, watching my Dad oil paint left me with the desire to learn more. In 1999 I was wandering around a Michael's store where Pat Appling was teaching. I watched for awhile that morning and then came back later that day to observe their progress. I signed up that day for Pat's next class; after that first class I was hooked and painted at every opportunity, art was my therapy. Since then I've had the opportunity to learn from a variety of artists that are giving with their time and talent to help me grow as an artist." "In 2002 I was laid off after a 23 year career in telecommunications; With my children's words echoing in my ears, that it was now time to make my dreams come true; A World of Arts & Crafts was born. Since then with my family by my side every step of the way, we haven't looked back." "Polly Painter was created as an extension of my own personality. She and I have had a great time entertaining children and adults at a variety of events, anything from birthday parties, parades, football games and the local nursing home. You just never know where she'll turn up." |
